Salvation

God has entrusted the job of spreading His message of salvation to the church. If you have never started a relationship with God then read below to find out how you can start a relationship because of what Jesus Christ has done for you.

Roman Road to Salvation

Mankind has always wanted a way to earn their salvation and to deserve a place in heaven. Many think that if they work hard enough or if they are good enough God will owe them a place in heaven when they die. As we can see in the Bible there is a major problem with this thought pattern.  Romans 3:10 tells us “As it is written:"There is none righteous, no, not one.”  Just a few verses later in verse 23 God says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  These verses show us that we are a sinful people thus it is impossible for us to be good enough or to work hard enough to earn a place in heaven.

We can say “But I am a good person” but Romans 5:12 explains to us “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” Adam and Eve sinned and the penalty of sin became a problem for every person of every generation.

We may ask ourselves “if I continue trying to be good and to work hard to go to heaven what will I earn?’ Romans 6:23 warns us that “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” We earn wages and the wages of living life outside of God’s plan is spending eternity separated from God and heaven. The first part of this verse can bring despair but the second gives hope. The gift of God is “eternal life” or heaven.

God’s love for us is so great that He was willing to pay our sin debt.

Romans 5:8 gives praise to God as it tells us, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God’s love is best described in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  The question then arises “If God paid the price for our salvation, what do we need to do?”

That question is answered in Romans 10:9-13 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.  For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

Receiving Jesus Christ is as easy as A B C. We ADMIT we are sinners. We BELIEVE in Jesus and his promises. We CONFESS Jesus by asking Him into our lives.

A sample prayer can be as simple as: Lord Jesus I am a sinner. I believe you are the Son of God and that you died for my sins. I need you to forgive my sins and to be my lord and savior. Thank you for coming into my life.
